The first tiny houses have arrived onsite at Rosie’s Village in the U District. Set up has begun with the village scheduled to open mid-October. The site at 1000 NE 45th Street will have 38 tiny houses. The land is being leased for free from Sound Transit by the City of Seattle with annual renewals through May 31, 2024.
I love how Mapquest driving directions integrates gas station and restaurant stops along the route. It’s a perfect travel planner that does more than just get me from A to B.
That's really great to hear! I think setting up tiny houses is a practical step toward helping those in need, especially in urban areas like Seattle. I remember volunteering at a similar project last year, and it felt rewarding to see people find a stable place to stay. If you’re ever looking to decompress after volunteering, I suggest playing Slope Game online—it’s a fun way to unwind and clear your mind.
Thinking about the logistics of designing and building 38 tiny houses so quickly makes my head spin. I wonder if they utilized any innovative technologies, like maybe even some level of pre-fabrication or even crazy cattle 3d modeling during the planning phase to optimize space and resource allocation. It seems like a really efficient and smart way to tackle such a complex project under a tight deadline. Hopefully, this model proves successful and can be replicated in other areas.
