LIHI is pleased to announce the relocation of Rosie’s Village, a tiny house village that was originally located in the University District on Sound Transit property at 45th and Roosevelt Way NE. As we prepare to develop new affordable housing on the site, Rosie’s Villages needed to be relocated. The new location at 12201 Aurora Ave N. will include the following: 37 tiny houses for our unsheltered neighbors, 24/7 staffing, a community kitchen, bathrooms, laundry facilities, offices for case managers, staff parking, and a security pavilion. The Village is sponsored by Truevine of Holiness Missionary Baptist Church.

Rosie’s Village will operate as an enhanced shelter, providing a pathway to permanent housing for 40-50 individuals who have been living unsheltered. On-site case managers will assist clients obtain identification, apply for income support, employment, healthcare, supportive services, and navigate housing.

The Village is conveniently located on the Rapid Ride E Line, shopping, amenities and services like the Giving Room Food Bank at Epic Life Church, the Bitter Lake Community Center, UW Medical Center, and the Broadview Branch Library. Rosie's Village will open in June 2025.

Construction is well underway at Kingfisher Village, located at 1824 S. 84th St. in Tacoma. The village will feature 60 tiny houses and will serve approximately 70-75 individuals at a time. LIHI staff and volunteers are currently preparing Kingfisher for its opening, which is scheduled for summer 2025.

LIHI is partnering with Pierce County and the State Encampment Resolution Program at the Department of Commerce to operate Kingfisher Village as a 24/7 enhanced shelter on LIHI owned land. Client referrals will also be facilitated by Pierce County in partnership with the Department of Commerce, to shelter individuals experiencing homelessness in the Tacoma area.

The long-term vision of the site is to develop the property into affordable housing as we have with other villages. For example, Good Shepherd House and Nichols Court were once tiny house village sites. The Kingfisher Village site will be able to accommodate 60-80 apartments.

This is great news concerning Rosie's Village becoming Kingfisher Village; it is always a great opportunity to see a community change and develop a new identity. Change brings a lot of positive energy and new opportunities, even if there is a tinge of nostalgia for the way things were. In the meantime, I have gone through a huge transition working on my final-year dissertation-and balancing all other things. It got stuck in writing the abstract for days, so I opted to seek dissertation abstract help UK. As Rosie's team is all moving forward with a fresh clear new direction, we also sometimes need a little push to keep our projects on track.
