As a member of NeighborWorks America, the Low Income Housing Institute was proud to participate in NeighborWorks Week 2026. From May 23 to June 7, 2026, LIHI joined over 250 non-profit organizations in celebrating collective action and the power of resident-led change.
This year's theme, "Creating Homes, Building America," highlights the importance of expanding housing opportunities, strengthening communities, fostering economic resilience, and being part of the housing solution.
In light of this theme, LIHI hosted community BBQ's and neighborhood cleanups at various LIHI sites. These events were designed to strengthen relationships between our sites and their surrounding neighborhoods, celebrate the accomplishments of our clients, and create opportunities to shift perceptions, reduce stigma, and establish our clients as active members of their communities. These activities produced tangible benefits to the surrounding community, showcasing our clients as positive contributors to the neighborhood they call home. Through this programming, we created a joyful gathering point and authentic connections that can outlast a single event.
