Why are Tiny House Villages so popular with homeless people?

Because it's the next best thing to having your own place, and it's a great step toward getting housing (see graphic below). Tiny houses at 8’x12’ may be small, but they supply a core human need that can be hard to come by on the street or in many shelters: privacy. Each tiny house client gets a key to their own space. They can close out the world, catch a breath, sleep and be safe and warm. Their belongings are safe: a huge worry for people living on the street or in an unsanctioned encampment.

GiveBIG raises funds to cover essential needs.

While villages receive funds from the cities and counties they are located in -- Seattle, Skyway, Tacoma, Tukwila (King & Pierce Counties) -- that funding doesn't pay for all the village costs. For example, the materials for building tiny houses and setting up the villages are not 100% covered. Operations, staffing and food aren’t fully funded either. Hygiene supplies, furnishings, warm clothing, and other essential items are paid for from fundraising. Your donations are crucial.

So please GiveBIG. Any donation will help a lot to make our villages better.
