Public Notice: Temporary Opening of Section 8 Waitlist at the Bart Harvey
The Low Income Housing Institute (LIHI) will temporarily reopen the Section 8 waitlist for studio and one bedroom apartments at The Bart Harvey for one day only on July 27, 2026. The Bart Harvey is a senior property with a HUD Section 202 PRAC contract. At least one household member must be 62 years of age or older.
Maximum income limit: 50% Area Median Income (AMI). Current limit for an individual: $57,550
The Bart Harvey has a certain number of units that are set-aside for currently homeless households and a certain number of units that are set-aside for persons with a disability. Households that fit these qualifications are encouraged to apply.

The Bart Harvey may have a small number of units available to lease. To fill these vacancies, the first five to ten applicants in line may be asked to complete a full application. To be prepared to complete a full application for an upcoming vacancy, please bring with you the following documents:
- Government issued photo ID
- Social Security card
- Income documentation (e.g., Social Security, VA, or DSHS Award Letters dated within the last 120 days; pay statements; 2025 tax return; etc.)
- Asset documentation (last 6 bank statements; printed balance for cash/debit cards, etc.)

Built in 2009, the Bart Harvey houses low-income seniors 62 years of age and older in Seattle’s Cascade/South Lake Union neighborhood.
The six-story building has 32 studio apartments and 17 one-bedroom apartments. All units are wheelchair-accessible, and all have kitchens with dishwashers and full-size refrigerators.
On the Bart Harvey’s ground floor are a community meeting space with a full kitchen, a ping-pong room, offices for the building’s resident manager and its full-time case manager, a library, and one of two laundry rooms. In the library are four computers for tenants’ use.
Sustainable health-promoting elements were incorporated into the design of the building, among them a green roof that provides garden spaces and a walkway for tenants’ use.
